How we work
Sustainability regulation demands action. It does not demand every action.
We start with what actually matters to your business — and make sure it changes something.
From first call to deliverable:
- A free first call. Thirty minutes. We work out which rules apply to you and what is genuinely urgent. No commitment either way.
- Scope and proposal. You get it in writing: what will be done, by when, and what it costs.
- The work. Mapping, analysis, contract drafting or training — whatever we agreed on. You hear from me as it progresses, not only at the end.
- The deliverable. A workshop, a document, a set of instructions — something you can use. We go through it together so you know what happens next.
- Follow-up only if you need it. The aim is that your team ends up understanding the rules well enough not to need me for the next one.
What that looks like in practice:
Tell me where you are on the first call and we will find the right shape for it. Some examples:
- Regulatory mapping. Which rules apply to you, what they require in practice, and by when. A written summary that tells you where to start.
- Human rights and environmental risk assessment. Finding and ranking the risks in your value chain, and setting out what to do about them.
- Workshops and training. For management, procurement or legal teams. I have run these for Global Compact Network Finland, FIBS and the Finnish Corporate Sustainability Law Association, and directly for companies.
- Contract work. Sustainability clauses in procurement contracts, Supplier Codes of Conduct, and using contracts to carry due diligence down the value chain.
- Due diligence process design. Fitting a process built on the UN Guiding Principles and the OECD Guidance into the structures you already have, rather than building a parallel one.
- Written opinions. Legal analysis of a specific question.
Who you'll be working with:
Your advisor is Juho Saloranta, sustainability lawyer and Doctor of Laws. His doctoral research dealt with human rights due diligence and access to remedy (University of Eastern Finland, 2024). He has worked in the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Human Rights, and is a postdoctoral researcher on responsible contracting in the JARGONFREE project at Tampere University.
